STATEMENT
I seek to find, draw, move, manipulate, blur, and erase the line between memory and invention. Calling upon photographs from my travels abroad, pictures from recent American history, and recollections of places I've dreamed, I create new landscapes. Permitting paint to be paint, I allow my media to drip, pool, and splatter within the confines of the lines that I draw. I choose bright colors to reawaken desolate scenes, and edit out images I can't or don't wish to remember, leaving only their silhouettes as evidence. As my own mind is filled with blurry composite memories, comprised of bits and pieces of actual and imagined personal history, it is difficult to decipher which parts are constructed and which parts are real.EDUCATION
